Wearables: Scarves & Shawls

Scarves & Shawls by BZDesign

These handcrafted, contemporary, block-printed scarves and shawls are made with natural fibers, plant dyes and textile paints. Go to BZDesign's Web site The simplicity of pattern and warm earth-toned palette evoke a sense of calm.

Each piece is unique. Natural fabrics are dyed twice, often incorporating a clamp-resist technique to create pattern. Either hand embellishment or block printing adds another layer of surface design.

Silk Scarves

"Peace" Silk

BZDesign's scarves and shawls are made primarily with "peace" silk, which is obtained using a humane process that allows the silkmoths to emerge from their cocoons and live out their full life cycle.

Most "peace" silk produces fabric with a gentle drape and noticeably softer texture than conventional silk.
